The Minecraft Logo
I’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft lately. Minecraft is a new indie game in early public alpha phase. The gameplay differs from gamemode to gamemode but they all involve adding and removing lego-like blocks for construction of structures, and the game environment itself. If the idea of a game with multiple game modes spanning from basic sandbox creative play building to actual game play with enemies and mining resources sounds awesome, you need to check this out. This game is currently in extremely early development, so please don’t judge the game forever off it’s current form. However, I feel it’s pretty awesome as is.
First there is creative mode, basically you just go wild with sandbox game play, just build all sorts of cool structures and stuff. It’s pretty endless the ideas. Here is a small selection of a few amazing things friends have made. I didn’t make any of these, anything I make usually sucks. Psst, creative mode can be played as multi player on a server!

Alright, now that you’ve seen creative mode, what else is there? Minecraft currently offers a mode called Infdev which is currently the mode under development with new additions weekly. It’s more of actual game play with the basics of it being mine up ore, chop wood, etc, to craft tools to build blocks to create fortresses and such to protect yourself from enemies and for your own enjoyment.

It’s main core feature is the ability of the game to create computer generated near infinite maps for you to play on. Roughly the map size in this mode is 8 times the surface of earth. Basically this means you can explore the world forever to find new caves, islands, resources and more. I’ve yet to actually play this game mode myself, as you must pre-purchase the game to access it.
Minecraft‘s creative and survival modes are currently available freely to play. To support this indie developer and furthermore help keep continued development of Minecraft, you can currently pre-purchase it at this moment and be able to play modes (that are currently being developed) currently closed off to free users such as Infdev. Read the full details of the pre-purchase here. I suggest all to try Minecraft, even if just the creative game mode.
